Zero Waste: Zero Travel? Zero Interest!
Dec. 28th, 2019 12:45 amI have to be up-front on this aspect of the zero waste journey - when it comes to travel, I am very selfish and I have no intentions of reducing to zero the number of flights I take. I have always loved to travel, and I would love to show my children the world. We are fortunate, on a selfish level, to live in a golden age of cheap air travel so the opportunities are plentiful. There is a war on plastic at the moment, I'm sure the war on emissions will happen sooner rather than later. For now, this is not my priority so I will continue to fly while I can. My views may change, and honestly I hope they do because I know they are selfish.
One more environmentally friendly holiday option I am exploring is buying a camper van. I love the thoughts of this lifestyle, of driving around the country and beyond, camping and enjoying every moment with our children. I think they would get so much from it and it would be great for our family. Unfortunately, our budget won't permit this just now but maybe I can find a way to make it happen in the next couple of years.
